Grigory V. Chernyak, MD, DABMA

professional photo edit 2Dr.Grigory V. Chernyak is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist with sub-specialty training and Board Certification in Pain Medicine. He is one of two Oklahoma medical doctors who is also Board Certified with the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.

Dr. Chernyak developed an interest in acupuncture and Oriental Medicine while attending medical school during the 1980’s. He has been studying and practicing acupuncture for the past 25 years. In 1989-90, he completed a formal acupuncture course at the Almaata School of Postgraduate Medical Studies in the former Soviet Union.  In 1993, he completed an advanced acupuncture studies course at the Liaoning College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shenyang, China. In addition, he has completed several courses on different acupuncture styles and techniques including Korean Hand (Su-Jok style) Acupuncture and German Auricular Acupuncture.

Dr. Chernyak completed anesthesiology residency at the University of Louisville, KY, and pain management fellowship at the University of Cincinnati, OH. His pain management fellowship included a pediatric pain program at one of the nation’s top pediatric medical facilities – Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Dr. Chernyak has been involved in acupuncture clinical research and has been published in major anesthesiology specialty journals.

Dr. Chernyak decided to open a clinic in his hometown of Edmond, OK. This enabled him to expand his services and extend his acupuncture/pain medicine expertise to the local community.

As a medical doctor and Diplomat of American Board of Medical Acupuncture, Dr. Chernyak understands both the distinct advantages and limitations of “eastern” and “western” approaches to patient diagnostic and treatment, and how to best integrate them to maximize the patients’ benefit.
